Volunteers Needed!
OPERATION BRIGHTSIDE BLITZ 2012

The 31st Annual City-wide Cleanup

The Central West End Association (CWEA) invites neighborhood participation in this year’s alley cleanup effort, scheduled for the weekends of April 28-29 and May 5-6.

The CWEA is looking for volunteers to commit to one-half day in a community-wide effort to clean alleys throughout the CWE.

Our goal is to recruit Block Captains and “foot soldiers” for each block in the targeted area: the blocks from Vandeventer to Union, and Forest Park Blvd. to Washington/Olive. How can you help?

· Spread the word! Use your block association e-mail chain to help recruit volunteers. Talk to your neighbors.

· Sign up by calling 314-367-2220 or e-mail mlpankoff@thecwe.org. Please let us know of your interest by April 11.

· We will stay in touch and keep you informed of the results.

· Questions? Contact Arthur Culbert, VP of the CWEA at arthur.culbert@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance for your help in keeping our great neighborhood clean. We look forward to making this year’s effort the best in the 31 years of Operation Brightside’s Blitz.

The area is tied to four of America’s most famous writers: T. S. Eliot, Tennessee Williams, Kate Chopin and William S. Burroughs. But until recently, the neighborhood had no official tributes to the literary greats. As part of Word Missouri, an ongoing series about Missouri’s literary heritage, KBIA’s Davis Dunavin looks at one neighborhood group’s efforts to change that.
