World Chess Hall of Fame:

Kings, Queens & Castles

October 31, 2015 - September 11, 2016

The World Chess Hall of Fame is pleased to present Kings, Queens & Castles, an innovative exhibition which brings the chessboard to life and provides an engaging introduction to individual chess pieces and game strategy. The exhibition opens on Saturday, Oct. 31 and runs through Sept. 11, 2016. Commissioned by the World Chess Hall of Fame, the exhibition was developed in partnership with The Magic House. Following its debut at the World Chess Hall of Fame, it will travel to select children’s museums nationally. For more information, click here!

Grab a glass of wine and your imagination and join us in the new exhibit, Ladies Knight: A Female Perspective on Chess. We’ll explore the many ways chess mirrors life, in both playful and serious ways, and create mixed media collages in this workshop with artist and Saint Louis University Associate Professor, Deb Douglas. Supplies and Refreshments Provided (In addition to provided supplies feel free to bring your own images to incorporate into your collage such as photographs, decorative papers, fabric scraps, or magazines.) $5 at the Door | Free for World Chess Hall of Fame members. No drawing experience necessary. Toddler Tuesday: Shapes and Colors
Tuesday, November 3 at 9AM

Foster early understanding of the basic elements of shape and color.

Toddler Tuesdays are designed for children ages birth to 3 and their caregivers. Each weekly session includes light refreshments and socializing followed by activities focusing on creative and cognitive development.

Family Day: Wear and Share
November 7th at 11AM and 1PM

Learn to make a variety of hats inspired by our exhibition, Kings, Queens and Castles. Make hats inspired by everyday castle life. Transform into a jester, wear a crown, or become a knight defending a castle, and put your own unique touches on a very special hat.

Sessions begin at 11am and 1pm and last approximately one hour.

Saturday Family Days are designed for families with children ages 5-12 and feature a kid-friendly tour of the current exhibits and related art or movement activity!  RSVP to programs@worldchesshof.org.

2015 Free Flu Shot Clinic 

"The single best way for families to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each fall. Barnes-Jewish Hospital is offering free flu shots to those in our community who would otherwise not have access to one.

All vaccines are free of latex and preservatives. 

Free seasonal flu shots are available at the following locations (see link below) for those ages 6-months and older, unless otherwise noted. No pre-registration is required. All doses will be administered on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

The Barnes-Jewish Hospital free flu shot clinics are made possible by funding from The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
