Update: Street Closures Related to BJC Construction

June 20, 2014

Kathy Bretsch, communications consultant at BJC, has shared an update on street closures and traffic flow related to the ongoing construction at the medical center:

On July 7, BJC HealthCare’s Campus Renewal Project will close Parkview Place at Kingshighway for up to two years to facilitate construction of the new inpatient towers for Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Signage on Kingshighway will redirect patients and visitors to Forest Park Avenue to access the Center for Advanced Medicine.

To improve traffic flow exiting the Center for Advanced Medicine, a second left-turn lane is being added from northbound Euclid onto westbound Forest Park Ave. The second left turn lane is expected to be operational June 25.

On Monday, June 23, for the safety of pedestrians, the crosswalk on the west side of the intersection crossing Forest Park Ave. will close (see map). Barriers will prevent pedestrians from crossing, and signage will redirect pedestrians to cross on the east side of the intersection. BJC Public Safety bike officers will monitor the intersection during peak morning and evening hours to redirect pedestrians. The crosswalk will remain closed for up to two years, reopening when Parkview reopens.
